The additional hippo and crocodile pieces allow for two-player games on the entire game board in the original Hippos \u0026amp; Crocodiles or the larger game board included in the Buffalos expansion (which is otherwise meant for use by three players).\n\nWhen using the larger playing areas (or the smaller ones if you're feeling masochistic), players can choose to place 1-4 tree trunks on the playing area prior to the start of play.
